New Siem Reap Airport Scheduled to Open in 2023

SIEM REAP:​ Chairman of the Board of Directors of Siem Reap-Angkor Airport, Mr. Lu Wei has said that the company urges the construction company to speed up the construction further in 2022, hoping to be able to open the new airport in 2023. He has confirmed this in a meeting on the progress of the construction process of the new Siem Reap International Airport on 25 January 2022.

Siem Reap Governor,Tea Seiha has mentioned in a meeting that the construction of the new airport is a contribution to the new future of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as a symbol of the Cambodian-Chinese friendship. He hopes that after opening the new Siem Reap Airport will make it easier for tourists and promote tourism in Siem Reap.

Secretary of State for the Office of the Council of Ministers and Director of Orientation for the Construction of the New Siem Reap Airport, Mr. Tek Rech Samrech has said that according to the plan in 2022, the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport will be 70 percent completed as an operation to prepare to transfer all work activities to the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport as well.

The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport project is being implemented by Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia).

Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is located in Tayek Commune, Sot Nikum District, Siem Reap Province, approximately 51 kilometres from Siem Reap City and approximately 40 kilometres from Angkor Wat, ensuring that flights and landings are not adversely affected of the airport to Angkor Wat and the surrounding architecture.

The new airport is classified as 4E, has a runway of 3,600 meters and a width of 45 meters, 38 airplane park and a terminal area of more than 80,000 square meters, which can accommodate more than 7 million passengers annually under the 55-year BOT agreement, after the operation is completed, the project will be handed over to the Royal Government of Cambodia.
